Everyone who has led a church capital campaign has one initial goal. This needs to be done with excellence.  As I begin my 26th year of consulting with churches, my goal is to not only see it done with excellence but that it is a God honoring process. What does that look like? The focus should simply never be on money and brick and mortar.

Here are some insights from my observation of hundreds of churches.

Church capital campaigns look much different than they did 10 years ago much less 25 years ago.

When implemented well, a church’s capital campaign or generosity initiative will:

  • Create a sense of unity in your church
  • Involve more of your church
  • Increase budget giving simultaneously with giving to over and above capital needs
  • Strengthen and expand your giving base as you get to know you them better and the support base better understands the church’s ministry vision

Capital campaigns when conducted improperly can cause unintended negative consequences and even have an adverse effect on regular giving. Wise experienced council can help this initiative be a catalyst for church as you move into the future.

Proverbs 24:3-6, teaches that successful enterprises are built on wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, requiring wise planning, common sense, and many counselors. Wise counsel provides the strategic planning needed to overcome challenges and achieve success.

If your church is in need of experienced counsel, Impact Stewardship stands ready to help.
